Party hard, and still be in bed before 9 pm?!!!! LUX!!!
“Wait!!! Whaaaaaaat?!!”…. If you read that and thought: “NOW YOU’RE TALKIN’!!!” – you need to check this out! The UK and Irelands BIGGEST DAYTIME PARTY!!
Having started life in Sheffield’s City Hall Ballroom, today it’s a whopping great national tour, and sees thousands around the UK hit the dancefloor with their best moves every month, to cut loose and let off steam – and all before 8pm!
Launched last year by actress Vicky McClure (BBC Series “Line of Duty” / film “This Is England” directed by Shane Meadows), filmmaker and broadcaster Jonny Owen, siblings Jon McClure – frontman of Reverend & The Makers, and his brother Chris McClure, as well as Sheffield businessman James O’Hara – DAY FEVER has captured hearts across the country, with a nation who obviously REALLY buy into the idea!!
“It started as a WhatsApp idea,” says Jon McClure…. “‘A daytime disco, how good would that be?’. We’re all a bit nuts, so we just said, ‘Come on then!’”
“It feels like a massive house party at your nan’s,” laughs Vicky. “No drama, no egos, just people acting daft, getting dressed up, and having the best time.”
The Deets:
Kicking off at 3pm and running through to 8pm, DAY FEVER party-goers bag the best balance! A proper night out, but NOT one that’s going to muck up your whole weekend!
No dress code = no pressure, and although you can still wake up in the morning fresh as a daisy, the hangover’s optional! If you’re up for a brilliant bash ‘n’ a boogie, minus the babalaas – this is where it’s at! Expect wall-to-wall feel-good tunes, and a safe place to dance like nobody’s watching!
Another massive plus point, is that local DJs know their crowds – so the energy’s kept high throughout, with a nostalgic mix of Northern Soul, disco, indie, and 90s classics! This means that from Nottingham to Newcastle or Glasgow to Gloucester; every DAY FEVER event’s unique!
“Manchester goes mad for Oasis,” shares Jon – “and if Vicky’s there, we have to play Whitney, it’s not negotiable….”
An Awesome Mix Of People & A Feel-Good Vibe:
The event’s appeal has been instant, and it’s striking a chord far beyond the dancefloor too – by sticking to such workable times, it’s a party that everyone can make it to!
“We’ve had people in remission, people grieving, people celebrating life,” says Jon. “It’s mothers and daughters, old mates, and whole families dancing together. That’s powerful.”
It’s as much of a great laugh as it sounds, with tickets selling out in hours and a growing waiting list of new towns ready to be added to the tour. As Jon puts it: “It’s like a wedding party where everyone actually wants to be there, and that’s magic.”
Giving Back To Local Venues & Communities:
The guests aren’t the only ones who love it! It’s also proven a brilliant addition to programming for local venues, because it’s a timeslot where often there’s nothing else happening – great support for the local scene!
“Clubs double their takings,” explains Vicky. “We’re out by 8, and then they’ve got a full night to run! It’s been a game-changer.”
