Shame – Live at Chalk
Wednesday 19th November
With Support from Mary In The Junkyard
Blisteringly energetic post-punk outfit ‘Shame’ promise to shatter Chalk’s stage with a high-octane performance this November!
Formed in 2014, the South London group soon earned a niche and loyal fanbase after their debut album “Songs of Praise” in 2018, expressing adolescent and unapologetic confidence that found its place within a simmering post-punk revival. A strong portfolio has been built upon with each subsequent release. “Drunk Tank Pink” and “Food for Worms” developed the band’s narrative and matured their image with renowned singles such as “Alphabet”, “Fingers of Steel’ and “Adderall”.
Their latest release, “Cutthroat”, solidifies their identity by capturing the sweaty, exhilarating disorder of their live performances. Frontman Charlie Steen can be found dripping in sweat, carefully scanning crowds as he transforms stages into his own tribune, commanding his people. Amidst circle pits and walls of death, you can expect to see bassist Josh Finerty front flipping across the stage. There aren’t many current acts in the genre who match Shame’s energy; this gig is forecast to be a resounding hurricane of a live show. To sweeten the deal, the band will be joined by the brilliantly wistful, narrative and pensive three-piece, Mary In The Junkyard, fresh off their recent US tour with Wet Leg.
