NewDad – Live at Chalk

With Support from Cardinals

Sunday 26th October, Doors @ 18:30, age 14+

Following on from the release of their second full-length studio album “Altar”, ‘AEG Presents’ brings ethereal, cathartic and dynamic Irish alt-rock band ‘NewDad’ to Brighton, as part of the band’s latest UK tour!

Formed in Galway back in 2018, the band, consisting of frontwoman Julie Dawson, Sean O’Dowd (Lead Guitar) and Fiachra Parslow (Drums), immerse listeners through resonant emotion, intoxicating melody and veiled narrative. Bearing aspects of shoegaze, dreampop and post-punk, Newdad built a devoted following with the release of debut EP ‘Waves’ in 2021, featuring such addictive hits as “Blue” and “I Don’t Recognise You”.

The band has subsequently grown and matured with “Altar”, a yearning for the hometown they left behind after moving to London in pursuit of progression. The new album, featuring exciting singles “Roobosh” and “Entertainer”, highlights gut-wrenching emotion, frustration, and reflection in its sound. Tracks with unapologetic anger and nostalgic melodies, paint a vivid narrative, constructing an empathetic relationship between artist and listener. “Altar” shares the band’s vulnerability at an important turning point in their lives, unveiling both their ambition and their promise in equal measure. Without any doubt, not a show to miss….

Great for fans of Pixies, Wolf Alice, Blondshell and Lime Garden, returning to Brighton this October, NewDad will take to the stage at Chalk on Sunday October 26th, with support from exciting up-and-coming Cork-based post-punk revivalists Cardinals.
