Learn a new skill and an ancient craft!
Humans have been carving spoons for millennia, the word spoon comes from the anglo-saxon word ‘spon’ meaning chip of wood. Join us for a day in the woods where you will learn how to carve your own spoon and connect to this ancient craft in the beautiful natural surroundings.
On this course you will learn all the skills you need to transform a green log into a finished spoon. We will cover the all the basic skills needed, including:
- Wood selection
- Splitting wood.
- Using an Axe to carve
- Knife holds / Using a knife
- Using a Hook Knife
- Finishing your spoon
The workshop takes place from 10am-3pm with a short lunch break, please arrive on time as we have a lot to cover! We will be at the Lilac Garden, which is next to the One Garden car park.
The ticket cost covers all materials, tools and tutoring.
Refreshments provided, but please bring a cup!
Please note: This workshop takes place outside, we have a covered space if it rains but please wear appropriate clothing.
