Spotlight is a regular series in which Phoenix Studio Artists showcase their work and artistic practice.
Tuesday 9 September 2025
Doors and Bar open: 18:00
Event: 18:30 – 20:30
Spotlight is a strand of regular talks by artists at Phoenix.
It originally ran from about 2017 to 2020 and was a really popular part of Phoenix’s programme, however like many in-person events it stopped due to Covid.
We are delighted to be finally bringing it back. Each event is made up of two artists talking about their work, and the inaugural reboot of Spotlight showcases the work of Michelle Abbott and Patrick O’Donnell. Both artists investigate different ideas around space through work in two- and three-dimensional media.
Michelle works with thread as both a drawing and sculptural medium. Her current series explores the dynamics of human relationships, the history of tailors in London’s East End, and non-objective aesthetics.
Patrick is interested in the notion of transition between real and metaphorically constructed space, with recent work taking inspirations from his immediate environment, domestic settings and places of personal connection.
