Join us in Brighton for an inspiring showcase celebrating the winners and entrants of the 2025 Renaissance Legal Artwork Competition.
Following the successs of the Renaissance Legal Artwork Competition 2025, we have put together a special event for families, carers, charities and all those in our local community to see and celebrate the winning pieces of artwork – and all of the wonderful entries we received.
About the competition
The Renaissance Legal Artwork Competition is an initiative inviting children and young people with disabilities to express themselves through art. Open to individuals under the age of 25, the competition empowers participants to explore their creativity and share their artistic talents.
Entrants were invited to create a picture that represents the theme of ‘what I love to do’, such as a hobby, a place they like to visit, or people they love spending time with.
Winners were selected from each of the following age categories:
• 4-8 years old
• 9-13 years old
• 14-18 years old
• 19-25 years old
Alongside Renaissance Legal’s Managing Director Philip Warford, our expert panel of judges brought diverse experience and a shared passion for supporting young people and creativity:
- Julia Donaldson – renowned children’s author, Children’s Laureate 2012-13 and Patron of Amaze Sussex.
- Ciara Lawrence – learning disability campaigner and podcaster.
- Patricia Finnegan – artist development lead at Project Art Works – a collective of neurodiverse artists and activists.
- Baroness Browning – former Conservative MP, VP of the National Autistic Society and an Ambassador for the Alzheimer’s Society.
- Angela Pell – a writer for film and TV whose credits include Snow Cake, starring Sigourney Weaver and Alan Rickman and Gifted, starring Rhys Ifans. Angela also worked on the film adaptation of Naoki Higashida and David Mitchell’s The Reason I Jump. She also co-wrote the memoir A Normal Family with her husband Henry Normal about bringing up their autistic son, Johnny.
Join us in the Globe Room at Projects Nile House for a relaxed, free event to see and celebrate the wonderful entries we saw.
