The heartwarming, tongue-burning tale of one man’s quest to win a chilli-eating competition, without his family finding out.

Award-winning comedian Mark Allen brings a new storytelling show to his resident city, as part of this year’s Brighton Fringe.

“Leonard had always avoided chilli. In a Venn diagram of foodstuffs, he couldn’t see why the circles of flavour and self-harm would ever need to intersect.”

Fittingly, just a pebble’s throw from the site of Brighton’s annual chilli-eating competition, Mark brings you the charming tale of Leonard Cox – a devoted sceptic of spice, who one day vows to win his local chilli-eating competition in order to settle a long-standing grudge.

The only problem is, Leonard last ate a chilli nearly 40 years ago and it made him chaotically ill. With just weeks to go before the event, will his secret training regime pay off? Or will his family find out and put a stop to another of Leonard’s ill-judged schemes before he gets his shot at redemption?
