Headliner: Joelle Taylor
Poet in Residence: Katrina Quinn
Music: Phonetic
Hosted by: Rosy Carrick

Apples and Snakes in partnership with Brighton Dome presents a spoken word showcase featuring some of the UK’s top artists alongside local musical and spoken word talent.

Each Trope has a theme. March’s event is a celebration of International Women’s Day and we thought we’d combine that with Nature to bring a multi-layered theme this time round. Two big themes for one big night!

Joelle Taylor

Award-winning poet, playwright, author and editor who has recently completed touring Europe, Australia, Brazil and South East Asia with her latest collection Songs My Enemy Taught Me.

Read our interview with Joelle Taylor to find out more about her journey as a poet and the inspiration behind her upcoming work.

Phonetic

An artist synonymous with Brighton’s thriving hip hop scene, thanks to her skills on the mic and her unwavering creative drive. She has already earned support slots for a number of notable artists including Rag’N’Bone Man, Children of Zeus, Skinnyman, LEVELZ, Dr Syntax and Amy True, and is working on her first solo project The Dictionary of Proverbs LP.

Katrina Quinn

Katrina debuted her first full length solo spoken word show, Individual Medley, in 2017. ‘Perfect poetic style’ The F-Word. Look out for her new show in 2020 RHYTHM Has Your Two Hips Moving.

Rosy Carrick

Brighton-based writer, performer, translator and compere, Rosy is currently working on her second spoken word theatre show, Musclebound.
