“When the postman don’t call on Valentine’s Day… Don’t ask me, I already know.” So sang Martin Fry, the embittered romeo of ABC, in 1982. We hear you, Martin! And purely as a one-off, because this February’s Spellbound falls so close to St. Valentine’s Day, on SATURDAY 15th FEBRUARY, we’re throwing a Valentine’s Party with a twist. Don’t worry, we haven’t gone all soft and soppy on you, and this isn’t a dating or couples’ event or anything cheesy like that. THIS IS NOT A LOVE SONG is the name we’re giving to our Alternative Valentine’s Party, and we’ll be exclusively playing songs with ‘love’, ‘heart’, ‘romance’, ‘kiss’ etc in the title or prominently featured in the lyrics. And, this being an Alternative 80s club, you can imagine that the idea of love in those songs is often a little, shall we say… tainted. You’re probably already making a playlist in your head right now. They are absolute bangers, are they not?
