SUMMARY:Ryoichi Kurokawa subassemblies and Myriam Bleau Unsculpt - Double B
 ill
DESCRIPTION:Ryoichi Kurokawa subassemblies and Myriam Bleau Unsculpt - Doub
le Bill\n\nAbout Ryoichi Kurokawa\nJapanese artist Ryoichi Kurokawa is a t
rue poet of the transformative cinema\, lyrically transfiguring the analog
ue representations of perceived nature into digital streams of vertiginous
imagery &amp\; emotion. The architecturally crafted precision of his sens
itively synched fragmentary images placed side by side on our retina\, ten
ds to displace the persistence of blurred memory under the effect of bound
less luminosity.\n\nAudio and visual concordance are key in Kurokawa’s w
orks. He considers both the audio and visual element as different vectors
of a unique piece and insists that they have to flow together to enter a c
ollision at the same time. As can be viewed from his works\, Kurokawa stat
es that nature is his principle source of inspiration. All of his works li
e in this notion of hybridization. Between analogue and digital\, but also
between time and space\, the full and the fragmentary\, the simple and th
e complex\, the reactive and the contemplative\, the auditory and visual."
\n\nIn recent years\, his works have been shown across the world at intern
ational festivals and museums including Tate Modern\, Centre Pompidou\, Ve
nice Biennale\, Minsheng Art Museum\, Barbican Centre and Sonar. In 2010\,
he was awarded the Golden Nica at Prix Ars Electronica in the Digital Mus
ics &amp\; Sound Art category.\nAbout subassemblies\nIn subassemblies Ku
rokawa uses 3D data and thermal imaging\, combined with film\, to explore
the relationship between nature and the remains of human-made architecture
. He creates layers of order and disorder while exposing the force of both
nature and art.\n\n“Trees and rocks\, corridors and rooms melt and shap
eshift and finally merge in a captivating visual rush that feels like a re
al glimpse of the art of the future… Illusion is back. Visual sensation
 is back. O brave new world…” Guardian\n\n\nAbout Myriam Bleau\nMyriam
Bleau is a composer\, digital artist and performer based in Montréal\, Ca
nada.\n\nUsing music and sound\, she creates gestural electronic music per
formances\, audiovisual interfaces\, video works and installations that ar
ticulate sound\, light\, movement and images. Her work investigates perfor
mance\, both as a codified cultural manifestation\, and as an embodied re-
enactment of symbolic systems through human and non-human agencies\, inclu
ding machine learning.\n\nHer work has been recognised and presented inter
nationally\, at festivals such as Prix Ars Electronica Japan Media Arts Pr
ize\, Sónar\, MUTEK and Transmediale.\n\nMyriam returns to ACCA following
the hugely successful presentation of her project Ballistics in 2019\nA
bout Unsculpt\nBased on the methodology of speculative architecture and i
nspired by the writings of Donna Haraway – a prominent American scholar
in the history of consciousness\, science and technology – Unsculpt is
an audiovisual performance exploring urban and natural scenes created by
humans and machines.\n\nGenerated with artificial intelligence\, synthetic
landscapes emerge as fragments of dreams\, faded postcards from an imagin
ed future. Human and natural constructions – mountains\, seashores\, sky
scrapers and facades – are digitally sampled\, instantiated and assemble
 d in animated collages. A fleeting materiality emerges\, machine-learning
allowing for a slow metamorphosis between textures and materials\, from ma
rble to silk\, from concrete to flesh.\n\n\n*Standing audience\, not seate
