As a queer atheist\, Frances set out to photogr aph people finding ways to live openly within religious institutions that have historically promoted queerphobia\, while challenging the assumption that queerness and religious faith are necessarily incompatible.\n\nThe re sulting photographs and testimonies bring together queerness and religion around ideas of resistance\, renewal\, radical equality\, devotion and tra nsformation.\n\nThe project has travelled internationally over the past th ree years and is now being published as Queer Religion Volume 1\, a limite d-edition hardback book.\n\nFor this Exploding Appendix\, Frances will joi n us to talk about the project\, the people she has photographed\, and the questions that emerged through making it: about gender and sexuality\, fa ith\, resistance and belonging\, and the possibility that queerness might not simply be opposed to religion at all and might have something to teach it.\n\nSupport Frances ' Kickstarter to help publish the Queer Religion  photobook\n\n \;\n\n📅 Tuesday\, 1 September 2026\, 7pm-9:30pm
