DESCRIPTION:We are thrilled to be bringing the Duck Fayre back to Patcham f
 or its fourth year on Sunday 27th August 2023 on the Patcham Schools' play
 ing fields. It is such a joy to bring people together to celebrate all tha
 t is good in Patcham and share the talents of local traders\, performers\,
  and artists.\n\nAs usual\, entry to the fayre and the community centre is
  free\, a particular bonus when everything seems to have gone up in price 
 recently!\n\nLast year\, with the sun shining\, we were told we had over 5
 \,000 people attend\, and although we do not directly seek to raise money 
 for charities\, the feedback we received from our stallholders tells us th
 at local fund raising groups made over £35\,000 from the day. We are also
  proud to say that we left the school field completely clean and tidy by 6
 .30pm – thanks to ‘Lord of the Bins ‘who are helping us again in 202
 3.\n\nEach year we need to raise over £10\,000 to put on the Fayre. Our t
 hanks to this year’s sponsors\, who have enabled us to fund many of the 
 activities and hire essential equipment\, and to the various grant making 
 groups who\, even in these unusual times\, have come forward to help.\n\nO
 nce again the Brighton Belles WI will be running the tea tent where folks 
 can sit and enjoy a cuppa. The very popular dog show is back\, as will be 
 the main stage with great singers\, dancers\, bands\, and choirs performin
 g throughout the day.\n\nThis year you must pay a visit RetroBution\, the 
 retro gaming group who are on the top floor of the Community Centre. They 
 will be bringing lots of old gaming consoles so you can show off your skil
 l at Sonic the Hedgehog and other old games.\n\nAll this will be part of o
 ur aim to provide free entertainment for children and their families throu
 ghout the day\, which we provide by way of the children’s marquee\, circ
 us skills and wandering entertainers. Our ‘find the ducks’ competition
  is back by popular demand and we will be selling our unique Duck Fayre to
 te bags and tea towels at our Duck Fayre stall next to the HQ.\n\nMy thank
 s as always\, go to the Duck Fayre committee members who work tirelessly t
 hroughout the year and particularly during the 48 hours leading up to the 
 big day. We are all volunteers who meet monthly to plan the Fayre.\n\nThis
  year I want to highlight the work of Jenny Robinson\, (our Treasurer) and
  Claire Montgomery\, (media and publicity). Both work full time yet manage
  to organise all the stallholder applications\, accounts\, programme desig
 n\, advertising\, and media coverage. We couldn’t deliver the Fayre with
 out them.\n\nThank you too to the High School and Junior School who let us
  use their fields and to the Community Centre who generously let us use th
 eir building for free.\n\nFinally\, can we remind you all to ‘waddle\, w
 alk or wheel’ by bike or bus to the Fayre and leave your cars at home\, 
 to avoid congestion in the area surrounding the schools and nearby streets
 . Here’s hoping for some sunshine – it’s the only thing we can’t o
