DESCRIPTION:Hot on the heels from touring the UK in January\, Australian si
 nger-songwriter Nigel Wearne returns to the UK this summer. He plays the C
 ambridge Folk Festival then onto The Folklore Rooms in Brighton.\nHailing 
 from Gunditjmara country in the deep south of Australia\, Nigel Wearne sau
 nters after dark in the music of the night. Blending blues\, folk and Amer
 icana-noir\, he's a guitarist and multi-instrumentalist with diverse influ
 ences from Nick Cave\, Tom Waits and Gillian Welch. A deep thinker and tru
 th seeker with a penchant for all things peculiar\, he sings of human frai
 lty\, grace and the cosmos\; songwriting that cuts to the bone.\n\nNigel h
 as toured Australia\, New Zealand\, the US\, UK and Canada and he's perfor
 med at a long list of music festivals\, including MerleFest (USA)\, UK Ame
 ricana Music Week\, Port Fairy Folk Festival and the Adelaide Guitar Festi
 val. His sophomore album\, 'Black Crow' garnered wide critical acclaim inc
 luding a 4-STAR review in Rolling Stone\, a nomination for Best Country Al
 bum at the Music Victoria Awards and debuted at #1 on Australia's AMRAP Ch
 arts. A storyteller at heart\, Nigel paints lyrical pictures with “the n

 AGAZINE\n\n\nOpening the evening will be Nick Pynn\, a British musician an
 d composer noted for his use of bass pedals and live looping with electro-
 acoustic stringed instruments. He's been described as an ‘avant folk’ 
 artist\, whose early interests were in world folk and experimental music.\
 nNick performs on a variety of instruments including 5 string violin\, gui
 tars\, mountain dulcimer\, mandocello and banjo. He's also performed as a 
 sideman with many artists over the years\, including Billy Bragg\, Arthur 
 Brown\, Steve Harley\, Beverley Martyn\, B*Witched\, Mike Heron (Incredibl
 e String Band)\, Jane Bom-Bane and comedians Stewart Lee\, Boothby Graffoe
 \, Kevin Eldon\, Jo Neary\, Phil Nichol\, Rich Hall and Omid Djalili. Nick
  also plays with Stomp’s ‘Lost and Found Orchestra’ and performs reg
 ularly with Kate Daisy Grant.\n\n
