SUMMARY:Mal-one &quot\;Never Mind The Punk 45' at Bozboz Gallery
DESCRIPTION:Punk Artist Mal-One’s mixed media show ‘Never Mind The Punk
45’ features décollages from the forerunners of the punk rock movement
’s debut 45 releases.\n\nCutting back from the original 7” artworks to
show snippets of related material from the bands back story. The use of p
ress cuttings\, promo badges\, tickets etc\, add to the group’s media in
formation. Bands included in the show are Adam &amp\; The Ants\, Buzzcocks
 \, The Clash\, The Damned\, Ian Dury\, Generation X\, The Jam\, Ramones\,
Sex Pistols\, Siouxsie and the Banshees\, The Stranglers and X Ray Spex.\n
\nAlso showing is the work 100 Punks\, a collage of 100 Punks singles insp
ired by the original wall in the Rough Trade shop that comprised of many o
f the punk record sleeves from the time.\nThe 7’’ single is an underra
ted art form that is released\, grabs our attention and disappears before
we know it\, deleted from view as the bands move on to their next musical
or visual statement.\n\nArtist Mal-One grew up in the same London neighbou
rhood as future Sex Pistols Steve Jones and Paul Cook. In fact his first i
ntroduction was Steve Jones nicking his bike at the grand old age of 7. Th
is same London area of Hammersmith and Shepherds Bush was also a hotbed fo
r the forthcoming Punk scene with such venues as the Red Cow\, The Nashvil
le \, Fulham Greyhound\, Hammersmith Odeon and Hammersmith Palais all with
in spitting distance.\n\nBeing immersed from an early age to the Punk scen
e has led to an understanding and knowledge of the workings of said moveme
nt. Having access to one of the biggest Punk collections has allowed him t
o draw on this body of work as a template for his future re-workings. The
last great revolution where youth\, music and art collided provides the ba
ckdrop for his Punk Art to create something new from something old and spe
 cial.\n\n&nbsp\;
