SUMMARY:Kal Marks\, Reciprocate\, Perch
DESCRIPTION:Kal Marks: Crushing\, beautiful\, absorbing fuzz-abraded noise
rock. For years\, Kal Marks was the loudest band in Boston. Though it's ha
rd to fathom\, as bands like Pile hammered away on post-hardcore songs and
Guerilla Toss shrieked through electronics-driven art-rock\, Kal Marks ch
arged through songs of exhaust and hopelessness from behind a wall of amps
\, a fervor that other artists couldn't match. The trio prioritized volume
over all else — it's been their shtick\, if it's fair to call it that
 — and frontman Carl Shane has no problem saying such. (As he once quanti
fied it\, "We're the band metalheads come up to after shows and just go\,
'Solid.'") It's a composition style they perfected\, so when it came time
to record their fourth album\, Kal Marks decided to get uncomfortable by r
eeling the noise in. They hit a sweet spot in the process.\nhttps://kalmar
 ks.bandcamp.com/\nWith support from Reciprocate + Perch.\nReciprocate: New
band from two thirds of Shield Your Eyes\, their songs all explode into a
mess of jagged guitar riffs and off kilter drumming. Parts twist and turn
\, go off at tangents\, head to unexpected places\, stop\, start\, then st
op again. The clattering drums and spiky guitar work\, underpinned by soli
d bass playing. Riffs will only appear for a few bars and then be thrown a
way\, whilst others\, go on for around six minutes similar to the principa
l that Lightning Bolt employ in their music\; the idea of making riffs the
focus of your songs\, of constantly making small changes and throwing in
odd curve balls here and there in order to keep things flowing. Riff after
riff after riff. ffo Off Minor and Paper Cut Out.\nhttps://romacpuncturer
epairs.bandcamp.com/album/demo\nPerch: Digging for something original and
fresh in the fields of distortion copycats\, Brighton &amp\; Hove’s indi
e/art rock quartet Perch plot an increasingly direct flight path on new fu
ll length 'No Step'. Perch deliver taut slices of melodic college rock\, a
nd slabs of 90's inspired post grunge\, songs that aren't exactly about br
eak ups or searching for the next distraction. Ffo Television\, Pavement\,
Sebadoh\, Built to Spill Guided by Voices\, Sonic Youth via a UK DIY sout
 h coast sound.\nhttps://perchtheband.bandcamp.com/
