 emory\, and ecstasy. Violinist Sarah Saviet and pianist Joseph Houston tak
 e you on a journey through music of the 20th and 21st centuries that cul
 minates in the wild joy of Messiaen's Theme and Variations."\nBio:\nSarah
  Saviet is a violinist based in Berlin and dedicated to the performance o
 f contemporary music. She performs as a soloist and chamber musician and i
 s a member of the Saviet/Houston Duo and Riot Ensemble. Sarah’s recent r
 ecording of Liza Lim’s violin concerto ‘Speak\, Be Silent\,’ with th
 e Riot Ensemble was selected as one of New Yorker Magazine’s ‘Best rec
 ordings of 2019.’\n\nRecent performances include soloist with Klangforum
  Wien as part of Märzmusik in the Berliner Philharmonie\, and the premier
 e of Rebecca Saunders and Enno Poppe’s duo Taste at Witten Festival 20
 22. Sarah curates a concert series at km28 in Neukölln\, Berlin. She pe
 rforms regularly with with ensembles such as Ensemble Mosaik\, Ensemble Mo
 dern\, Musikfabrik\, ELISION\, and orchestras including the Berlin Philhar
 monic\, Staatskapelle Berlin\, Rundfunk Sinfonie Berlin\, WDR Sinfonieorch
 ester\, and Konzerthaus Berlin. She studied at Indiana University with Jor
 ja Fleezanis and Mauricio Fuks\, and at the University of the Arts Berlin 
 with Nora Chastain\, supported by a DAAD grant.\n\nJoseph Houston is a Br
 itish pianist based in Berlin. His performance practice encompasses a rang
 e of music\, including contemporary and experimental music\; late 19th- an
 d early 20th-century piano music\; and his own compositions. He is a membe
 r of the Saviet/Houston Duo\, the Octandre Ensemble\, and has performed in
  duos with Rolf Hind (piano)\, Lore Lixenberg (voice)\, Lucy Railton (cell
 o)\, Rebecca Lane (flutes)\, as well as with groups such as the Boulez Ens
 emble\, the Berlin PianoPercussion Ensemble\, Riot Ensemble\, and the Phon
 etic Orchestra.\n\nJoseph aims to curate unique and immersive programmes t
 hat combine music from various genres\, generating a whole that challenges
  and informs the understanding of each individual work\, while involving h
 imself as much as possible in the compositional process of new commissions
 . Recent highlights include solo performances at Donaueschinger Musiktage 
 2019\, broadcast on SWR2\; the world premiere of a new duo by Rebecca Saun
 ders and Enno Poppe at Wittener Tage für neue Kammermusik 2022\; a and CD
  of chamber music by Thomas Simaku with Quatuor Diotima released on BIS.\n
 \nMasterclass: 12:30 - 14:00. During the masterclass Joseph and Sarah will
  be workshopping and discussing selected new student compositions\, two of
