SUMMARY:FORAGE & NIBBLE in Horsham (West Sussex)
DESCRIPTION:A 3-hour session with a foraging expert\, including ID work\, t
asting wild ingredients and a wild snack at St. Leonards ForestThis course
is designed to get you as involved as possible - this includes identifyin
g\, picking and tasting a range of wild species that will be found on the
day. There will also be samples of wild food and drink for everyone to get
stuck into and a pre-made wild snack! The focus with all of our workshops
is on the 4 'F's of Foraging: Fungi\, Fruit\, Flowers and Foliage. We aim
for an array of these elements on every session we run (weather and season
permitting!)Event sold out or can't make this date? Head to www.foragebox
.co.uk/workshops or view our Eventbrite profile to browse all available se
ssions. What To ExpectOur 'Forage &amp\; Nibble' workshops are exactly that
: you will spend the day learning how to forage with your tutor and then b
e treated to a 'wild snack' to put it all into context! These have become
our most popular events and are available at numerous locations around the
country.DURATION: 3 hours (approx 2.5 hours of foraging and 30 mins prepa
ring and eating your wild snack)We like to keep some elements a surprise f
or the day\, but here is what you can expect from your foraging workshop:a
short introduction regarding the safety and format of the daydiscussions
 around foraging tips\, safety\, ethics\, etiquette\, sustainability and th
e lawa circular walking route taking in different growing environments aro
und the site. Expect a route of around 2-3km predominantly on footpathsa c
loser look at edible wild species and any poisonous lookalikes by a profes
sional foragera chance to slow the pace of modern life down\, meet new peo
ple and immerse yourself in a soul-nourishing activity\, reconnecting with
nature and discovering new flavourssmall tasters of wild food - this may
even include freshly-picked items straight from the wild and a wild snack.
Your wild snack might be something we find on the day freshly cooked in t
he woods\, a hunk of homemade sourdough with some wild pickles and preserv
es\, or even a big slice of cake (our tutors are decent cooks too so it co
uld be something even better!)our workshops are run in a welcoming and inf
ormal fashion\, where attendee questions and contributions are encourageda
fter the event\, you will be sent a follow-up email containing a list of e
verything we found on the day. Please do not expect photos or descriptions
in this email - it is purely a list for reference purposes\, and we find
it helps people do further research in their own time. Please note: as with
most of our events\, this is an educational experience and not a 'basket-
filling' session. At the end of the session\, there may be a small selectio
n of our wild products and workshop vouchers available to purchase (card a
nd cash accepted). This is a recent element of our events after enough att
endees made enquiries about it - there is no pressure to buy anything havi
ng already bought tickets but sometimes people want a souvenir to take wit
h them! Please speak to your tutor about this at the end.Who Is This Works
hop For?These events are perfect for everyone - families\, bushcrafters an
d dog-walkers alike! Nobody is made to feel out of their depth or silly fo
r not knowing what certain things are\, so these events suit absolute novi
ces to more experienced hobby foragers alike. We strongly believe that fora
ging is for everyone\, with all demographics welcome\, regardless of age\,
ability\, gender or ethnicity. Please read our FAQs further down the page
to find out about dogs\, children and mobility.IMPORTANT INFORMATIONKIT LI
