SUMMARY:FORAGE & NIBBLE in Brighton (East Sussex)
DESCRIPTION:A 3-hour session with a foraging expert\, including ID work\, t
asting wild ingredients and a wild snack near Wild ParkThis course is desi
gned to get you as involved as possible - this includes identifying\, pick
ing and tasting a range of wild species that will be found on the day. The
re will also be samples of wild food and drink for everyone to get stuck i
nto and a pre-made wild snack! The focus with all of our workshops is on th
e 4 'F's of Foraging: Fungi\, Fruit\, Flowers and Foliage. We aim for an a
rray of these elements on every session we run (weather and season permitt
ing!)Event sold out or can't make this date? Head to www.foragebox.co.uk/w
orkshops or view our Eventbrite profile to browse all available sessions.W
hat To ExpectOur 'Forage &amp\; Nibble' workshops are exactly that: you wi
ll spend the day learning how to forage with your tutor and then be treate
d to a 'wild snack' to put it all into context! These have become our most
popular events and are available at numerous locations around the country
.DURATION: 3 hours (approx 2.5 hours of foraging and 30 mins preparing and
eating your wild snack)We like to keep some elements a surprise for the d
ay\, but here is what you can expect from your foraging workshop:a short i
ntroduction regarding the safety and format of the daydiscussions around f
 oraging tips\, safety\, ethics\, etiquette\, sustainability and the lawa c
ircular walking route taking in different growing environments around the
site. Expect a route of around 2-3km predominantly on footpathsa closer lo
ok at edible wild species and any poisonous lookalikes by a professional f
oragera chance to slow the pace of modern life down\, meet new people and
immerse yourself in a soul-nourishing activity\, reconnecting with nature
and discovering new flavourssmall tasters of wild food - this may even inc
lude freshly-picked items straight from the wild and a wild snack. Your wi
ld snack might be something we find on the day freshly cooked in the woods
\, a hunk of homemade sourdough with some wild pickles and preserves\, or
even a big slice of cake (our tutors are decent cooks too so it could be s
omething even better!) You can read more about what to expect with your wi
ld snack by reading this Field Note.our workshops are run in a welcoming a
nd informal fashion\, where attendee questions and contributions are encou
ragedafter the event\, you will be sent a follow-up email containing a lis
t of everything we found on the day. Please do not expect photos or descri
ptions in this email - it is purely a list for reference purposes\, and we
find it helps people do further research in their own time. Please note: a
s with most of our events\, this is an educational experience and not a 'b
asket-filling' session. At the end of the session\, there may be a small se
lection of our wild products and workshop vouchers available to purchase (
card and cash accepted). This is a recent element of our events after enou
gh attendees made enquiries about it - there is no pressure to buy anythin
g having already bought tickets but sometimes people want a souvenir to ta
ke with them! Please speak to your tutor about this at the end.Who Is This
Workshop For?These events are perfect for everyone - families\, bushcraft
ers and dog-walkers alike! Nobody is made to feel out of their depth or si
lly for not knowing what certain things are\, so these events suit absolut
e novices to more experienced hobby foragers alike. We strongly believe tha
t foraging is for everyone\, with all demographics welcome\, regardless of
age\, ability\, gender or ethnicity. Please read our FAQs further down the
page to find out about dogs\, children and mobility.IMPORTANT INFORMATION
