DESCRIPTION:First Press returns to Komedia on Sunday 31st March for another
  music filled afternoon of digging\, DJs and vibes alongside some of Brigh
 ton’s finest record stores\, sellers and labels!\nWe’ll have a great s
 pread of crates for you to peruse\, joined by legends such as Geoff Finch\
 , The Record Album and Mrs. Canuitcaq’s own Josh Dean side by side with 
 a new generation in the shape of Capsule Records\, Union Lewes and David L
 oja as well as a selection of Brighton based labels including Jalapeno\, T
 ru Thoughts\, Freshly Squeezed and Hive Mind.\n\nWe’ll be broadcasting l
 ive with our partner Slack City Radio from 10am-3pm\, with some of the sta
 tions finest joining us as well as sets from First Press and local vinyl l
 egend Geoff Finch.\n*** The day is FREE ENTRY! ***\nThis time\, we’re de
 lighted to be sponsoring ‘Help Musicians’ - a charity dedicated to sup
 porting young artists on their journey. You’ll find donation links aroun

 air has been running in various guises for decades and their selection of 
 rarities\, hard to find collectables and wide range of styles has made the
 m a staple of the Brighton record collecting scene\, you can expect a wide
  range of genres from some of the South Coast's most experienced collector
 s.\n\nWe’re delighted to welcome some of Brighton’s biggest and most c
 elebrated labels and stores. We’ll have a hand picked selection of back 
 catalogues\, as well as new and unreleased records and some of the cities 
 most unique record stores coming together for one day.\n***Capsule Records
 ***\nFrom their friendly new neighbourhood space on the Western Road\, Cap
 sule proudly stock a wide range of genres\, all hand picked\, for you to e
 xplore and find the next gem for your growing vinyl collection. With a sta
 te of the art sound system\, a cosy coffee bar and passionate staff it's t
 he perfect space to spend some time enjoying good music.\n\nAs passionate 
 Hove dwellers Capsule felt the time was right to bring a vinyl record stor
 e to the heart of the Hove community. They started looking for premises an
 d the timing could not have been more perfect as the iconic Igigi store wa
 s looking to close its doors. And so Capsule Records was born\, passing th
 e wonderful shop from one passionate team to the next.\n***Jalapeno Record
 s***\nSince its inception Jalapeno Records has grown into an oasis of funk
 ed up\, fun-loving dance music which defies pigeon-holing. From huge album
  releases by the legendary nu-disco crew Kraak &amp\; Smaak to the gospel-
 infused blues of Izo FitzRoy\, to the crisp hip-hop breaks from fun-loving
  showstoppers The Allergies\, to the northern soul of Smoove &amp\; Turrel

  to dig at Jalapeno Records.\n***Phantom Limb***\nOne of Brighton's most c
 elebrated labels\, home to an incredible array of experimental music from 
 around the world. You'll find boundary pushing hip hop alongside stunning 
 soundtracks and thought provoking dance music.\n***Tru Thoughts***\nBright
 on based record label Tru Thoughts has been releasing Electronic\, Jazz\, 
 Soul\, Hip-Hop\, Downtempo\, Grime and more for the past 24 years. Born ou
 t of a club night\, Tru Thoughts boasts releases from across genres\, incl
 uding Alice Russell\, Hot 8 Brass Band\, Flowdan\, Quantic\, Bonobo\, Moon
 child\, Zed Bias\, Ty and their incredible Shapes compilation series. One 
 of the UK’s finest independent labels\, expect tunes perfect for the dan
 cefloor as well as the long night after.\n***Freshly Squeezed***\nBrighton
 -based Independent Record Label Freshly Squeezed have an uncompromising qu
 est for only the very best music that has enabled them to evolve from a sm
 all DIY label to host a roster of quirky\, idiosyncratic music that you'd 
 be unlikely to hear anywhere else. Specialists in the electro swing phenom
 ena\, expect some fascinating and floor filling cuts.\n***Hive Mind***\nHi
 ve Mind is a vinyl led record label bringing you vintage and contemporary 
 sounds from around the globe and a stalwart of First Press.. Hive Mind fol
 low the teachings of Sun Ra - “Music is a plane of wisdom\, because musi
 c is a universal language\, it is a language of honor\, it is a noble prec
 ept\, a gift of the Airy Kingdom\, music is air\, a universal existence 
 … common to all the living.”\n***The Record Album***\nOpened in 1948 -
  The Record Album sells all kinds of music from pop to classical\, but spe
 cialises in soundtracks\, cinema and theatre - lovingly caring for records
  of all varieties from one of the longest standing shops in town. They hav
 e a wide range of rare prints as well as some incredible bargains.\n***Uni
 on Lewes***\nUnion Lewes are self described ‘vinyl junkies and cratedigg
 in’ fanatics’ - they host a personally curated selection that’s open
  to all styles that founders Del and Danny are whipped up in. With racks f
 ull of everything from jazz to reggae\, ambient to esoteric guitar music\,
  classic rock to killer blues - we’re delighted to have them with us for
  the day.\n***David Loja***\nDavid Loja is back with his incredible select
 ion of worldly delights\, with his criminally underpriced bargain box as w
 ell as premium cuts from around the globe with a focus on European funk an
 d African beats.\n***The Vinyl Selecter***\nOpen Market residents\, you ca
 n now Vinyl Selecter every day with a selection of vintage vinyl - includi
 ng a wide selection of reggae\, classic rock\, dance 12”\, soul\, funk a
 nd much more.\n DJs live on Slack City Radio\nWe’ve got all vinyl DJ’s
  running from 10am-3pm all broadcast live on the mighty Slack City - with 
 some of the stations finest shows joining us\, alongside special guests Ri
 val Self and Geoff Finch\n—Rival Self—\nDJ\, producer\, tape looper\, 
 artist\, turntable musician\, overthinker.\n\nA First Press regular\, we
 ’re thrilled to have one of Brighton’s best turntablists on the decks 
 for the first time with us. \n—Oz Adams— \nCo-founder of DJ collecti
 ve Different Strokes for Different Folks together with his cousin\, the ar
 tist and illustrator Nick Taylor. He’s an avid vinyl collector\, DJ arou
 nd the city and a fundamental believer in the power of musical rabbit hole
 s.\n—Juicy Town—\nOn your trip to Juicy Town you’ll discover eclecti
 c tunes from across the globe of all genres with one important characteris
 tic binding them together\; they're god-dang juicy. Get inspired by styles
