In this two day pain ting course\, Anastasia will guide students through an alla-prima figure p ainting process from an unclothed model. This is an incredible opportunit y to learn Anastasia’s approach to painting – from underpaintings\, co lour mixing and working towards a finished piece. What to Expect This workshop is ideal for beginners new to painting figures in oils\, as well as more experienced artists who want to refresh their skills under the guidance of this world class tutor . There will be demonstrations throughout the course\, with plenty of tim e for individual support and guidance from Anastasia. The workshop runs from 10am-5pm on Saturday 20th &\; Sunday 21st April\, with a 1-hour l unch break from 1-2pm - you are welcome to bring a packed lunch\, or to po p to the nearby Sainsbury’s\, or a café on London Road. There will al so be extra tea-breaks throughout the day. What you need to bring Easels \, padded &\; backed chairs\, drawing boards and small tables are provi ded for all students and materials are included in the cost of the course. All materials will be provided\, including oil paint\, solvent and oil p ainting paper\, palettes and palette knives. Students will need to bring: A toned light grey support – panel\, canvas or oil painting paper A3-A 2 is ideal Brushes suitable for oil painting (We suggest several 'Filbert' brushes in assorted sizes\, Anastastia uses both synthetic and sable brus hes Apron &\; Rags/Kitchen Roll You will need to take your painting ho me with you at the end of the course\, so please bear that in mind and bri ng a box or appropriate carrier. A pproach New England House from the New England Street side of the building and walk up to the locked blue double doors next to the sign for the ‘B uilding Manager’s Office’. Wait to be let in or call the number on the door for entry - the studio is on level 5\, Unit 1 South\, just knock and walk in. There is parking at London Road car park\, Elder Place &\; Tr afalgar St car parks\; Brighton station is a 5 minute walk from the studio . The building has a wheelch air ramp at the North side of the New England Street entrance and lifts up to level 5 with gender-neutral toilets &\; accessible toilets on floor s 4 &\; 6 accessed by lift. Fixative spraying is not allowed in the stu dio and is done outside\; oil paints will be used at this session and we w ill be using odourless solvent (no turps) throughout the course - our air purifier and good ventilation help control fumes.
