DESCRIPTION:Discover the art of cyanotype printing in one dayCyanotype prin
 ting is a painterly\, low-toxic way to produce unique photographic prints 
 using light-sensitive cyanotype fluid\, light\, and water.This one-day wor
 kshop includes an introduction to the history and science of cyanotypes\, 
 along with a hands-on exploration of the materials and techniques involved
 . Learn how to prepare paper or fabric\, expose and develop images using b
 oth objects and photographic negatives\, and experiment with methods such 
 as wet-on-wet application and layered compositions.Most materials and equi
 pment will be provided including a range of materials and negatives to exp
 eriment with. Students are welcome to bring their own objects to use in th
 e exposure process\, e.g. flowers\, leaves\, utensils\, semi-transparent m
 aterials\, as well as any fabric to print onto.At the end of the day every
 one will have a series of prints to take home.This course is suitable for

 onations via our website.Nina Garstang studied her BA at University of Bri
 ghton &amp\; MA in Painting at the Royal College of Art in London where sh
 e received the Stanley Smith Scholarship. She is an interdisciplinary arti
 st making in various mediums and materials. She makes and teaches one to o
 ne cyanotype workshops in her studio in Brighton. Where she paints\, photo
 graphs the sea and collects ghost netting and plastics washed ashore after
  storms to make sculptural works. She exhibits nationally and internationa
 lly\, highlights include ‘London Art’ fair in Chelsea\, Scope in Miami
  and Paradise RCA in Milan. Nina’s solo show in the project space at Pho
 enix last year called Entangle explored the visceral and metaphorical expe
 rience of our relationship with the sea. She has paintings in public and p
 rivate collections in London and Brighton\, 6KB and Alex de Brye amongst o
 thers.
