SUMMARY:Clod Ensemble: Placebo
DESCRIPTION:A room full of expectation\, suggestion and infectious rhythm.\
nWhat is fake and what is real? Is the movement the medicine?\nPlacebo is
an invigorating celebration of the power we have to make ourselves feel be
tter\, even when things are falling apart.\nSeven dancers and an audience
attempt a series of experiments to discover what gives them pleasure and w
hat might dull their pain. Movements collide\, overlap and multiply\, prop
elled by a rich original score that sweeps mischievously through euphoric
club tracks to chewy classical fugues.\nPlacebo continues Clod Ensemble’
s reputation for finely crafted\, provocative performance\, ambitious in s
 cale and concept.\nDirection &amp\; Choreography - Suzy Willson\nMusic - P
 aul Clark\nCostume Design – Art School\nImage Credit – Manuel Vason\nC
ommissioned by The Place\nSupported by Arts Council England and Wellcome T
 rust.\nFeeling Better Panel Discussion - Monday 15 October\, 7pm £5/£3.\
nWhat makes us feel better? Join us for a conversation with patients\, hea
lth professionals &amp\; artists to consider how beliefs\, expectations an
d relationships can have a radical impact on a treatment’s effectiveness
 .\nPlacebo Pre-Show Artist Talk - Tuesday 16 October\, 7pm – free with a
ticket to see PLACEBO\n“The quality of the performance is astonishing a
nd unforgettable.” The Scotsman on Under Glass.\n“Willson’s eye for
the power of breaking established movement patterns is revelatory. Her per
formers create their own visual language onstage: tough\, savvy\, a combin
ation of classical rigour and popular culture irony and playfulness...”
