 Thomas Gould leader\n\nIn a vivacious opening to our 2021 season\, Bright
 on Philharmonic Orchestra’s Music Director Joanna MacGregor directs two 
 of Mozart’s most cherished piano concertos from the keyboard\, mixed wit
 h the excitement of Britten and Piazzolla.\n\nMozart wrote his sophisticat
 ed Jeunehomme concerto in Salzburg in 1777\, when he was just twenty-one
 : Alfred Brendel calls it ‘one of the greatest wonders of the world.’ 
 It’s paired with another youthful piece\, Benjamin Britten’s exuberant
  Young Apollo\, for piano\, string quartet and string orchestra – a wor
 k that announced Britten as both virtuoso performer and composer.\n\nThree
  sizzling Piazzolla tangos\, showing off the BPO strings\, preface Mozart
 ’s perhaps most famous concerto – K467 – with one of his dreamiest s
 low movements\, famously referenced in the 1960s film Elvira Madigan. The
  wit and crackle of Mozart’s woodwind writing\, alongside Piazzolla’s 
 award-winning Libertango\, makes this concert a true celebration as we re
